The rectified disappointment even provided the inspiration for an episode of “Monk” after Beal came back onboard. “I started hearing my cues on the air in Season 2,” he said, “and I kind of back-channeled with some producers, because I loved the show, and I said, ‘Listen, I’m ready to come back whenever you want to have me,’ and it was great, so I went back and did eight seasons with that show.” “I can laugh about it now, because shortly after they did both those things, my theme song got nominated, and eventually won, (my) first Primetime Emmy,” Beal said.Įventually, Beal found his way back to the show, although Newman’s song stuck. “I thought, ‘I finally made it,’ and then, you know, one year after, they decided to replace my theme song, and they actually fired me off the show.”įortunately, the setback didn’t last long. “It was so early in my career, and I was so proud of that theme song,” Beal said.
